Pricing and BYOK

How pricing works at launch

What does the Free plan include?

The Free plan includes 1 workspace, bring-your-own-key support, up to 2 total data sources, limited monthly questions, and basic citations. It is designed to help a team prove value quickly before upgrading.

What does BYOK mean in Slacklane?

BYOK means your team connects its own AI provider key, so Slacklane handles the workspace, ingestion, and answer flow while model usage is billed through your own provider account.

When should a team move from Free to Pro BYOK?

Upgrade when you need more than 2 sources, higher question volume, better source management, or more room to expand your indexed company knowledge without juggling limits.

Product and sources

What Slacklane can index and answer from

Which data sources does Slacklane support first?

The first version focuses on PDFs and scraped websites. That covers playbooks, onboarding guides, help centers, public documentation, and other structured knowledge your team already maintains.

Will answers show where they came from?

Yes. Slacklane is designed around grounded answers, so the product experience emphasizes citations and source-backed context rather than unsupported guesses.

Can I test answers before deploying broadly in Slack?

Yes. The dashboard includes an Ask Preview flow so you can test grounded responses against indexed sources before treating the agent like a live team-facing assistant.

Slack installation

How workspace install works

How does Slacklane get installed into a workspace?

Slacklane uses a standard Slack OAuth install flow. A workspace admin starts the install, approves the requested scopes, and Slack redirects back to Slacklane with the workspace linked.

Do users need to install from the Slack Marketplace first?

No. The current product flow is direct OAuth install from the Slacklane app, which keeps setup simple while the product is still in its early rollout phase.

Can I connect more than one Slack workspace right away?

The initial install model is intentionally narrow: one Slack workspace per Slacklane workspace. That keeps the first version simpler to manage and easier to validate.

Security and data

What teams usually ask about trust

Does Slacklane replace our source documents?

No. Slacklane is a retrieval and answer layer over approved source material. Your PDFs, docs, and internal knowledge remain the source of truth.

What changes when we use Managed AI instead of BYOK?

Managed AI removes the need to connect your own model key. Slacklane then handles the model usage layer for you, which is better for teams that want less setup and a simpler buying experience.

Is the current app fully production-ready?

Not yet. The current dashboard validates the core product flows, including source ingestion, answer preview, and Slack install scaffolding. Production-grade billing, enforcement, and backend token exchange still come next.
