How Slacklane handles the information entrusted to a workspace.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

What this policy covers

This policy explains how Slacklane collects, uses, stores, and deletes information when you visit Slacklane, create an account, connect a Slack workspace, or use the product.

Information we collect

We collect account details such as your name, email address, workspace name, membership role, and authentication details. We also process the sources you choose to add, including uploaded PDFs, website URLs and their extracted content, and approved Slacklane Brain entries.

When Slacklane is installed in Slack, we process installation details, the bot token issued for that workspace, Slack workspace and user identifiers, app mentions, and messages or thread context needed to answer a request or save an item to Brain. Slacklane does not automatically ingest every message in a workspace.

We use PostHog to understand visits and product usage, including page views, browser and device information, referral data, feature interactions, and masked session recordings. Form inputs and authenticated dashboard text are masked from recordings.

How we use information

We use this information to operate the workspace, index chosen sources, answer questions, show citations, provide customer support, prevent abuse, maintain security, and improve reliability. We do not sell personal information.

AI providers

New workspaces receive a 7-day trial powered by Slacklane’s configured AI provider. During that trial, relevant workspace context is sent to that provider to generate answers. A workspace can connect OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter at any time; its own key takes precedence, and requests are then handled under that provider’s terms and privacy policy. Slacklane stores customer provider credentials encrypted and does not display them back to users.

Google Drive

A workspace administrator can connect a personal or work Google account and select a folder in My Drive or a company Shared Drive to sync. Slacklane reads Google Docs, Sheets, and PDFs in that folder and its subfolders to index knowledge and answer workspace questions with citations. Imported content is available to everyone in that Slacklane workspace; administrators should select only folders appropriate for that audience. Slacklane does not edit Google files or follow Drive shortcuts outside the selected folder.

Slacklane stores file identifiers, names, source links, extracted text, and search indexes for imported files. We generate search embeddings on our servers. To answer questions, we send relevant content from imported files to the AI provider used by your workspace, as described above. Answers and citations can be delivered to Slack and retained in answer history.

Google OAuth credentials are encrypted at rest and used for background syncing. Disconnecting the integration removes its stored credentials, imported sources, and indexed versions. Deleted or inaccessible files are removed when detected during a successful sync. Existing answer history and backup copies follow the retention policy below. We do not use Google user data to train generalized AI models, sell it, or use it for advertising. Our use of Google API data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Payments

Subscription checkout and billing management are provided by Dodo Payments. Slacklane does not store full payment-card details. Dodo Payments handles payment information under its own privacy policy.

How information is stored and retained

Workspace sources, extracted text, indexed chunks, Brain entries, answer history, and integration records are retained while the workspace remains active. OAuth tokens and provider credentials are encrypted at rest. We retain limited technical logs to protect the service and diagnose problems.

A workspace owner can delete its workspace from the dashboard. This removes the workspace’s stored product data and disconnects its integrations. Backup copies may remain until replaced through normal backup cycles; billing and other records may be retained where required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers needed to run Slacklane, such as hosting, PostHog for product analytics, email delivery, payment processing, Slack, and the AI provider selected by your workspace. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect Slacklane, our users, or the public.

Your choices and requests

You can update account information, remove sources, disconnect Slack, remove provider credentials, or delete a workspace in Slacklane. To request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information, email hello@slacklane.pro.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No system is completely secure, so please use strong account credentials and protect access to your workspace.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Slacklane evolves. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date. For privacy questions, contact hello@slacklane.pro.
