Q&AEverything teams ask before installing Slacklane

Everything your team needs to know before bringing Slacklane into Slack.

Explore plans, provider keys, source grounding, team knowledge, Slack setup, and the guardrails behind Agent Mode.

Pricing and BYOK

Simple plans. Your own AI provider.

What does the Free plan include?

The Free plan includes 1 workspace, bring-your-own-key support, up to 2 total data sources, limited monthly questions, and basic citations. It is designed to help a team prove value quickly before upgrading.

What does BYOK mean in Slacklane?

BYOK means your team connects its own AI provider key, so Slacklane handles the workspace, ingestion, and answer flow while model usage is billed through your own provider account.

When should a team move from Free to Team BYOK?

Team BYOK is $49 per workspace each month. It is the right fit when your team needs up to 25 sources, 2,000 monthly questions, better source management, and a maintained Knowledge Brain.

What is included in Agent BYOK?

Agent BYOK is $149 per workspace each month and includes 500 agent actions. It is early access while we finish external-action approvals and a complete action history.

Product and sources

Ground answers in the knowledge your team trusts

Which data sources does Slacklane support first?

You can add PDFs and websites, and save useful Slack messages and threads to Brain. Together, they bring documented processes and knowledge shared in conversation into Slacklane’s answers.

Will answers show where they came from?

Yes. Slacklane is designed around grounded answers, so the product experience emphasizes citations and source-backed context rather than unsupported guesses.

Can I test answers before deploying broadly in Slack?

Yes. The dashboard includes an Ask Preview flow so you can test grounded responses against indexed sources before treating the agent like a live team-facing assistant.

How does the Knowledge Brain stay current?

Teammates can save useful messages and threads from Slack, including decisions, explanations, and process updates. Your workspace can require approval or publish contributions directly. Once indexed, they become shared Brain knowledge that can support future answers with sources.

Slack installation

A controlled path from setup to useful answers

How does Slacklane get installed into a workspace?

Slacklane uses a standard Slack OAuth install flow. A workspace admin starts the install, approves the requested scopes, and Slack redirects back to Slacklane with the workspace linked.

Do users need to install from the Slack Marketplace first?

No. The current product flow is direct OAuth install from the Slacklane app, which keeps setup simple while the product is still in its early rollout phase.

Can I connect more than one Slack workspace right away?

The initial install model is intentionally narrow: one Slack workspace per Slacklane workspace. That keeps the first version simpler to manage and easier to validate.

Does Slacklane understand a thread?

Yes. When Slacklane is called in a thread, it uses that current thread as conversational context alongside relevant approved workspace sources.

Security and data

Control what is connected, approved, and acted on

Does Slacklane replace our source documents?

No. Slacklane is a retrieval and answer layer over approved source material. Your PDFs, docs, and internal knowledge remain the source of truth.

Does Slacklane include AI model usage?

New workspaces receive a 7-day Slacklane AI trial. You can connect your own provider key at any time; your key takes precedence and keeps model choice and usage under your control.

How will Agent Mode stay under control?

Agent Mode is being introduced with explicit approval gates and action history. Teams will be able to review an external action before it runs and understand what Slacklane did afterward.
